Low-maintenance vinyl fencing for Flagstaff homes
Vinyl (PVC) fencing is a smart choice if you want privacy and curb appeal without yearly upkeep. It is molded to stand up to the weather, it never needs paint or stain, and unlike wood or metal it will not rot, rust or decay. Vinyl fences come in a range of heights, styles and colors, including white, gray and brown, so it is easy to find a look that suits your home.
Vinyl fence styles
- Privacy fences with solid panels for backyards and property lines.
- Picket fences for front yards, gardens and walkways.
- Decorative tops, such as scalloped or lattice designs.
- Matching vinyl gates for walkways and driveways, in a range of colors, shapes and sizes.
How vinyl fences are installed
Vinyl fences are usually built one of two ways: panelized, with pre-made sections that fit between the posts, or board-and-rail, where rails are attached to the posts with brackets and the boards are added on site. Either way the posts carry the load, so we set them firmly and keep the fence line straight and level, even on sloped or rocky ground.
Vinyl in a mountain climate
Vinyl will not soak up snowmelt or rot at the base the way untreated wood can. It does get stiffer in very cold weather, so it is best to avoid hard impacts in winter, like a snow shovel or a plow berm thrown against the fence. On exposed, windy lots, post spacing and reinforcement matter, and we plan for that when we lay out your fence.
Taller fences may also need a permit or a boundary survey. We will help you sort that out before work starts.
Easy care
Vinyl never needs painting. A garden hose takes care of most dust, and mild soap and water handles the rest.
